Part 1:
1. Can someone really find peace during a chaos?
2. Where woman really valued in the during the war?
3. Do men have "Hitlerism" or just some tendencies?
Part 2:
2. Where woman really valued in the during the war?

In today’s modern world women have the same opportunities as men, but at times it’s not equal. In Virginia Woolf’s piece “Thoughts on Peace in an Air Raid” that she wrote in 1940, which was the beginning of WWII. She talks about how women were not valued during the war. Women did not have the right bear arms to protect themselves. I think not giving women the right to bear arms during a war was a bad idea because if their husband was out fighting, how would she protect her children and home without any protection. The only thing that women could do to help during this time is to make arms, clothes, or food for the soldiers that are fighting for their freedom from the Germans. This made me wonder did English women work in hospitals to cure the wounded soldiers and did they work the jobs that the soldiers left behind or did they send out the kids to work. Sadly those were times where women were not valued because they weren’t equal to men. Woolf goes on to saying that woman had no roles in politics because all the high government jobs were occupied by mean and that there were no women in Cabinet. She continues to discuss how the people are not truly free because if they were they would be outside dancing and enjoying themselves. Also the reason they aren’t free is because of Hitler. Women could have been very useful during the war, if it wasn’t for men not wanting to give them the responsibility. Women have overcame many obstacles like working, careers, voting, and many more Woolf’s piece has illustrated how women were under appreciated in her time, but I think she would be pleased on how far women have succeeded and where they are going.

  1. I agree with what you had to say. Women having no value during war made it difficult for them to protect their families. The women should of been able to have some type of weapon for protection because it was so dangerous. When women had no equal rights or freedom during that era of war, it took a long time for them to have a voice and opinion. I think your right about how women have succeeded so much since then. Now women and man have equalilty in everything they did not before.
